WWOOF was founded in 1971 and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing).

I spent two weeks at Takiys with Claudio and Pilar. It was my first WWOOFing experience, and I am very happy to have had the chance to stay with them. From the very beginning, I was welcomed with so much warmth and immediately felt included in their home. My work mainly consisted of carpentry work on a recently built terrace and taking care of the chickens. I also learned a lot about building with mud houses. They trusted me with my work even though I didn’t have much experience in this field before, and they encouraged me to bring in my own ideas. We had many great conversations, and they taught me a lot about Chilean culture and food while also helping me improve my Spanish. I’ll never forget Claudio’s amazing cooking and Pilar’s delicious pastries! In my free time, I was able to explore the stunning nature around Rio Hurtado and go hiking in the Morillos. I even had company from the cute farm dog Lumi. They also lent me a bike, which made exploring the area even easier. Rio Hurtado has basically no tourists, making it a perfect place for anyone looking for an authentic Chilean experience. The night sky was absolutely stunning, and Claudio taught me a lot about the stars. Even after my stay, we have remained in contact, and they always make sure that I’m doing well. I am incredibly grateful that I got to have my first WWOOFing experience with them. I will carry this special time with me forever in my heart! Lovely first wwoof experience ! We didn't know what to expect but Padma and Piero put us at ease right away. The tasks were clear and fun to do ! We mostly took care of the animals, kept the place and property clean, cooked a lot and enjoyed lively discussions plus some outdoor projects when it wasn't raining too hard. We really enjoyed our stay, the hosts and their friends and the beautiful walking trails around the property and the best sunsets. We felt sad to leave but it means that we had a good time. I would highly recommend.

Una experiencia increible en el compost coiron !!! Karen y Felipe son dos personas muy carinosas, divertidas y con buenas ondas ! Me gustaba mucho mi estancia aca fue muy enriquecedor ! Talmbien el lugar es demasiado hermoso con las montanas en el fundo, detras del mar. Recomiendo mucho este lugar !!

Fue un estancia maravillosa an Las horquetas ! Es un lugar perdido en las montanas demasiado hermoso ! Esmerita y Lolo son dos personas muy muy carinosas y generosas con un gran corazon. Me gustaba el trabajo en este granja y en invierno puede haber nieve, es frio pero muy rico. Tambien la comida esta muy rica ! Mucahs Gracias a estas dos personas.

I had an amazing time staying in the farm for two weeks. During this time I mostly had tasks like cleaning the goats’ stalls, ironing, and cleaning cheeses. The place is surrounded by wonderful landscapes of nature. On my time off I had the opportunity to go on little walks around, and on a little hike near Volcán Lonquimay. I really enjoyed sharing time with Lavinia and Fernando, who were really caring hosts, and I take home with me the beautiful moments I spent in the farm. I was impressed by how much I learned while staying with them, and I would definitely recommend to other volunteers!

la primera granja q visité y fue lo mejor q m pasó, se sintió el ambiente familiar en todo momento: en las deliciosas comidas q nos hacía Leo, los postres q hice con denay, y los proyectos y aprendizajes con Laurence, siempre con paciencia y dedicación; Me enseñó a hacer jabones, kombucha, a sembrar frambuesas, transplantamos plantitas, lecheamos cabras e hicimos juntas una casa para unos patitos bebés q venian en camino!!. El trabajo era liviano: en la mañana alimentar a los animales, después forragear sus casas; cuando el clima lo permitía hacíamos tareas de construcción o sembrabamos en el huerto, si no trabajábamos en el invernadero, el taller o dentro de la casa. en la granja hay mucho por hacer así que no m aburría, y la siempre venían visitas, clientes de laurence o amigos de los chicos que pasan a saludar y hablar de la vida en el tiempo libre se puede ir en bici al humedal que queda cerca, o, en un viaje más largo, ir a maullin y recorrer la playa en bicicleta, yo no alcancé a hacerlo pero espero para verano tener la oportunidad de ir de nuevo y vivir la experiencia completa

This was our first experience with WWOOF. As a single mom with two elementary aged children, I could not believe how amazing Paula and her children were with us. I don't know where to start to explain how much things felt safe, easy, and a cariño that is hard to put into words. If you have an opportunity to learn from Paula and be part of the community, don't miss it. Period. GO, be a part of the community, work HARD, be patient, and maybe even fall in love with a different way to live. Best of luck to all.

We had a wonderful time at Tomás' farm! His family was friendly and incredibly hospitable, and we enjoyed the shared meal and home-cooked food. Work was pretty labor-intensive, but that's also because we came in the winter and in the middle of a historic amount of rain/flooding. There's so much to learn from Tomás, whether you want to explore syntropic farming, practice speaking Spanish, or make food from scratch. The house is also beautiful and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this farm!

Notre woofing chez Lorena et Alejandra a été extraordinaire sous toutes ses formes ! Elles sont dotées d’une extrême gentillesse et très patiente nous qui parlions peu espagnol pour la vie quotidienne et pendant les travaux. Alejandra parle anglais et même un peu français donc ça aide beaucoup également. Nous avons vécus des moments uniques en rencontrant leurs amis, travaillant avec elles et partageant la vie de 8 beaux chiens très attachants. Les activités pour les woofers sont diverses et variées, nous y étions en période hivernale et cela consistait à : désherber, peindre les cerisiers pour les renforcer, planter des roses, réorganiser le système d’irrigation, s’occuper des agneaux et moutons, donner à manger aux vaches, ramasser du bois, etc. Lorena nous a beaucoup appris sur l’élevage organique de ses cultures, c’était très enrichissant et intéressant. Tout le confort demandé est présent avec de très bons repas tous les jours, une chambre privée avec salle de bain privée également, internet (starlink), etc. Vous aurez le sentiment d’être à la maison tellement c’est convivial et chaleureux. En conclusion, c’était un woofing parfait, avec des personnes exceptionnelles qui adorent partager leurs expériences et nous recommandons toutes les personnes qui liront ces lignes de s’inscrire, tant qu’elles sont motivées, vous ne serez pas déçues.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour chez Nicolas, Hanna et Carlos. De l’hospitalité aux moments partagés ensemble nous nous sommes sentie comme à la maison. Les taches ne sont pas compliquées. Nous avions le choix et nous avons pu planter, s’occuper des animaux, tailler les arbres. Nous avions un logement très confortable pour nous. Puis nous avons partagé des repas, des balades, de beaux moments de vie. Merci encore pour cette belles expériences.

Tuvimos la suerte de pasar 10 días con Lolo y Esmerita, y fue una experiencia inolvidable. Es un lugar excepcional, muy diferente y totalmente desconectado del ritmo habitual, lo que lo hace aún más especial. Desde el primer momento nos recibieron con mucha amabilidad y cariño. Son personas muy generosas, atentas y siempre dispuestas a compartir y enseñar. Durante nuestra estancia, al comienzo del invierno, les ayudamos principalmente a podar los árboles frutales, una tarea que realizamos casi todos los días. También colaboramos preparando leña para el fuego y participando en las tareas del día a día, algo que disfrutamos muchísimo. Aunque allí no hay electricidad ni cobertura telefónica, para nosotros fue una parte muy valiosa de la experiencia y disfrutamos mucho de esa desconexión. Además, comimos increíblemente bien durante toda nuestra estancia. Para quienes quieran visitarlos en invierno, recomendamos llevar ropa muy abrigada, ya que las temperaturas pueden ser bastante frías. Estamos muy agradecidos por haber vivido esta experiencia y por todo lo que compartimos con ellos. Recomendamos de corazón a cualquier persona que quiera hacer woofing que vaya a conocer a Lolo y Esmerita y les eche una mano en este hermoso proyecto. Nosotros nos vamos muy felices y con recuerdos maravillosos.

Very grateful for this experience! This was my first time WWOOFING and I really enjoyed my week with Liz and her family. They were very kind and welcoming, cooked delicious food, and helped me practice my Spanish. Liz taught me about the native trees and herbs she's cultivating on her land. I did a fun mix of tasks around the farm like harvesting and shelling walnuts (the kids liked helping with that), watering the fruit and nut trees, and pruning back invasive bushes. There was also plenty of time to relax or go for walks everyday. The valley is beautiful and there's a wonderful sense of community there. The house does get cold at night so be sure to bring plenty of warm clothes.
