Araucanía
Availability until May 2026
Taking care of this land since Autumn 2022 by myself. Situated in Araucanía, close to Curarrehue by the mountain, above 1000 MASL, surrounded by native forest. I live with my dog (outside) and my cat (inside). Recently my boyfriend move in, vey new situation.
The activities in the land will vary according to the season but making wood and recollecting sticks are a must.
In garden season depending on your arrival, we will check the seeding/planting situation, landscaping, fertilizing, irrigation, weeding and so on.
I have an ecological toilet and outdoor shower with solar water system.
The accommodation: there is a common area, a monospace shared with kitchen and dinner/living room where there is a double bed in a mezzanine, sleeping bag is required. If you want to do camping, we can arrange a place for you.
I need to do daily meditation that you are welcome to join, also some days of the week I do yoga that we can practice together if you want.
The meals are mainly vegetarian, I like to cook and share recipes, if you like to cook is a plus! I do kombucha, ginger beer, sauerkraut, and different food preservation in glass jars.
Organic methods: Crop diversity, rotation of the land, compost manure, green manures, companion planting, agroecological practices to keep the plagues at minimum.
Current projects: At the moment (fall) getting ready for the winter, harvesting food and preserving, getting soil and organic material to fertilize. Firewood splitting and gathering.
Internet access available when needed, restricted use.

Marco

Sarivon has a really beautiful piece of land in the mountains and I’m glad I got to spend a week there learning more about sustainable living practices and getting to know a really cool woman.
The work was varied and I learned that I REALLY like chopping wood (such an empowering task!). She was also understanding to switching the tasks and hours to avoid the mid-day summer heat. Gracias!
Sarivon is also a great cook and I learned some great ideas for healthy vegetarian recipes.
Muchas Gracias!

Sara Ivonne hosted me for three weeks and I very much enjoyed my time at La Odisea in every way. The food was excellent, the property was beautiful and the work interesting. I did a variety of jobs from firewood cutting to food preparation to wood working. The countryside is remote and located in a very special place miles from anywhere which is unique. We enjoyed some fantastic walks. Sarivon cultivates a very mindful space of which felt good to surrender too and I left La Odesea feeling grounded and rested. Thank you Sarivon for being such an amazing Wwoof host. Good luck for the future and I hope all your dreams come true. Happy days, Daniel :)

During may I spent 10 days with Sara in her lovely ecological cabin, a bit lost in the mountains near Curarrehue. Time slowed down as days got organised around simplicity: cutting wood, shoveling snow, helping at cooking, talking, taking great care of the much needed fire. Sara is very very nice, interesting to talk with (she traveled the world…) and, of course, cooks incredibly well. The winter experience of La Odissea felt a little bit like a retreat, limited internet hours and heavy snow demanded a slower way of living, which most of us travelers miss in our daily lives back home.
About snow
As a Quebecer I enjoyed the seasonal cold and and the deep layer of wet snow that was already there when I arrived, but don’t underestimate the difficulties winter can bring up in the mountains: it’s just harder. Everything is… colder. And sometimes simple tasks take a bit more energy out of you. There was a lot of snow already, be ready to use a shovel if you want to go there during winter. Winter also made the experience more intimate. Be prepared to have your own daily routine and to have moments alone if you go there during the colder months. As it might seem a bit of a con, I appreciated this aspect, it made the woofing experience unique and rich, and maybe more profound in a way.
Overall, simplicity brings joy and calmness. I had an amazing time up there. Thank you Sara for sharing your beautiful lifestyle 😊 !

Sara is such an interestingly unique person and I had a great time at her home. The house and the land are absolutely gorgeous and the daily tasks were fun. She’s also a great cook and I always had something new to learn about and try. Thank you!

Working at La Odisea (Sara Yvonne’s Odyssey) was an extremely instructive experience. Tucked away in the mountains, far from everything, you want to know what self sufficiency is about, this is the place.
Sara Yvonne arrived in autumn 2022. Today there is a surprisingly tasteful off grid house and green house in one, both limited in size, but with unexpected comfort.
Never a dull moment, Sara Yvonne (trilingual: Spanish, English and French) guides you with patience but determination as she needs your energy in the vegetable garden, in and around the house and in the kitchen. The exchanges during and after work are enriching, the learning opportunities numerous.
As a reward, Sara Yvonne is an excellent, creative cook, combining plenty of delicious home made ingredients. The cherry on top of the cake, yoga and meditation sessions every day!
Thank you very much dear Sara Yvonne for all the wonderful moments together. I admire your courage and wish you lots of happiness in and during your Odyssey.
