Hola, soy Lorena y vivo con mi pareja y nuestros 8 tiernos perros en este lindo campo. Es un sector rural donde estamos inmersos en la belleza natural de cerros con bosques nativos de maitenes, boldos y quillay. Tenemos corderos, unas cuantas gallinas, vacas y caballos. Plantamos cerezos y frutillas orgánicas para exportación. Estamos enfocados en la relación entre lo agrícola y el medioambiente. Por eso, nos enfocamos en la restauración del bosque nativo y el suelo con microorganismos benéficos. Las actividades del campo dependen de la temporada. Un día en Los Maitenes podría incluir: - el corte de brotes de cerezos (10 hectáreas) - aplicación de protección de poda en pintura que sirve también para ahuyentar conejos en el campo de cerezos - cosecha de cerezas en la última semana de noviembre o primera semana de diciembre - raleo de flores, sacado de maleza y cosecha en media hectárea de frutillas - fertilización y nutrición - cosecha de manzanas, membrillos, damascos, limones, ciruelas, peras, duraznos y almendras en el mini huerto cerca de la casa - sacar y colocar cintas de riego - poda sanitaria de arboles - recolectar leña ya cortada para el invierno - replantar arboles nativos y agrícolas - instalar o reparar cercos - y mucho más! Alojamiento: Te quedarás en nuestra casa conmigo y mi pareja. El alojamiento consiste de un dormitorio privado con una o dos camas. Si vienes con un amigo o pareja, puedan compartir el mismo dormitorio. Tendrás un baño privado con ducha. Por favor, no tires el papel higiénico en el inodoro. Poner en el basurero. Espacios comunes: Tenemos 3 Shih Tzus quien viven en la casa. Tenemos 5 otros perros que viven afuera de la casa. Todos son muy amables. Somos amantes de perros y esperamos que seas también. Estás bienvenido compartir con nosotros en la sala living y la cocina. El agua de canilla/llave es potable; viene del subterraneo y tiene un sabor riquísimo. Cuidamos el medioambiente y te pedimos ser consciente del uso de agua y electridad. Tenemos paneles solares y nos importa la conservación de este recurso. Alimento: Te damos tres comidas por día: el desayuno y el almuerzo fuerte preparados por nuestra cocinera o nosotras y la once (una comida ligera de pan, queso, frutas, etc típica en Chile que comemos en la tarde). Se come lo mismo que nosotros: pan casero, queso, frutas y verduras frescas, vacuno y cordero del campo, huevos locales, etc. Podemos hacer arreglos para ovo-lacto-vegetarianos y pescetarianos. Nos gusta escuchar música, jugar cartas, ver las noticias, ver películas y andar en buggy por el paisaje. Nos encantaría compartir estas actividades contigo. Mi pareja habla inglés con fluidez. Si quieres mejorar tu español, hay oportunidad de hablar con nosotros y aclarar cualquier duda. Podemos poner subtítulos en inglés si te sirve. Vivimos en el campo. Hay oportunidad de caminar muchos kilómetros (con los perros, si te gustaría), andar en kayak en el estanque, ver las estrellas y disfrutar la paz de este lindo lugar. --- ENGLISH Hello! I'm Lorena and I live with my partner and our 8 sweet dogs in the beautiful countryside. In this rural place, we are immersed in the natural beauty of rolling hills and native forests of maiten, boldo, and quillay trees). We have lambs, some hens, cows, and horses. We grow and export organic cherries and strawberries. We are focussed on the relationship between agriculture and the environment. As such, we also focus on the restoration native forests and soil microbiomes. Farm work changes depending on the season. A day at Los Maitenes could include: - cutting cherry sprouts (10 hectares) - applying a special paint used to protect freshly pruned cherry trees from infection and rabbit browsing - cherry harvest in the last week of November or the first week of December - thinning flowers, weeding, and harvesting of strawberries in our half-hectare field - fertilization and nurturing of our crops - harvesting apples, quinces, apricots, lemons, prunes, peaches, and almonds in our mini orchard near our house - take out and place drip tape - tree pruning - picking up wood (already cut) for the winter - planting native trees and fruit trees - installing and repairing fences - and so much more! Accomodation: You'll stay with my partner and I in our house. You will have a private room with two beds. If you come with a friend or a partner, you can stay in the same room. You'll have a private bathroom with a shower. Please do not throw toilet paper in the toilet; it should go in the wastebin. Communal spaces: We have three Shih Tzus that live in the house with us. We have five other dogs that live outside the house. All of them are very sweet! We are dog lovers and hope you are too! You're welcome to hang out with us in the iving room and kitchen. The tap water is potable; it comes from underground an has a great taste. We care about the environment and ask that you are conscious of your water and electricity use. Our electricity comes from solar panels and the conservation of this resource is important to us. Food: We'll give you three meals per day: breakfast and a big lunch prepared by us or our cook and once (a light evening meal typical in Chile consisting of bread, cheese, fruit, etc). You'll eat like us: homemade bread, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables, beef and lamb from the farm, local eggs, etc. We can make accomodations for ovo-lacto-vegetarians and pescatarians. We like to listen to music, play cards, watch the news, watch movies, and drive around the countryside in the buggy. We'd love to share these experiences with you. My partner speaks English fluently and was a language teacher. If you want to improve your Spanish, you'll have plenty of opportunity to speak with us and clarify any confusion. We can put English subtitles on for you if you need. We live in the country. There are opportunities to walk many kilometers (with the dogs, if you'd like), take the kayak out on the pond, go star-gazing, and enjoy the peace of this lovely place.
